THE CROSS OVER PROJECT
Mikiko and Maria met at a Design fair in Sweden in 2016 and formed an instant global friendship. That soon evolved into this cross over stitch embroidery project, with patterns rooted in both Japanese and Swedish culture and traditions. In that way, the cross over project is the result of two friends’ mutual interest for design and handicraft. We hope that it will inspire others, on both sides of the planet.

MIKIKO YAMANASHI is the queen of Hemslöjd in Japan, with uncountable exhibitions, books, magazines, lectures and TV-performances on her CV. Mikiko discovered Sweden in 1967 and since then she’s been back over 100 times, as well as working close to handicraft artists in UK and Denmark too. Among her customers you find the Japanese Royal family and she has received an honorable medal from The Swedish King.

MARIA HOLMER DAHLGREN is a renowned Swedish designer with a very characteristic way of playing with her work. The result is colourful and graphic with an eye for details and often with a touch of humour. Marias design is sold in high quality design stores and museums all over the world.

WÅLSTEDTS TEXTILVERKSTAD is the Swedish wool spinning mill that processes lantrasull to beautiful yarns of the highest quality.
